First adventure with these pants went great. Wore them on a 20 mile weekend trip and they were amazing. Very flexible and comfortable fabric. Was very impressed with the DWR finish, I could STep in a 5 inch puddle and you would never tell, I could pull up my pant leg a see where the top part of my boot was still completely dry! Was able to do a lot of rock clmbing and sliding on rock and the pants are very durable and make it real easy to move aroung freely without restricting movement. Awesome job MH.

These pants really are a functional, stylish, wearable slice of heaven. Probably due to this fact, I never seem to find my size in stock, whether here or at partner stores. I can't wait to buy a COUPLE more pairs since at this point I can't seem to have too many.

Mountain Hardwear has created something special with these pants. Great fit. appearance, durability, and construction. High quality materials.
As so often happens with quality sportswear, I fear that the next generation of this model will have some cost-cutting measures or other changes that will ruin an outstanding item.

These are a great fit, with a lightweight material comfortable for summer, but also durable with the reinforced knees. Slim, straight-leg makes them nearly pass for dress pants! With full pockets, the spandex in the material allows the pant to ride down a little, so I also got the size smaller which can be worn without a belt.
I would recommend this product.

These pants have barely left the rotation since getting them back in September. I have worn them for everyday use, rock climbing, sky diving, hiking, and everything in between. They survived hitting the granite after a major leader fall, as well as a sliding down a never ending talus field.
I could not speak highly enough, but the seam around the butt finally blew out. It's an easy fix, but should be a bit more reinforced to handle that extra donut I want to eat...
Great product and will keep purchasing despite this issue!

The only negative thing I could say about the pants is the fit around the crouch area. I only think thats an issue due to the fact I have a little junk in the trunk from lifting. With that being said, its pretty negligible, due to the stretchiness of the pants. The length is spot on for a 32" (regular) inseam, fitting around the top of the shoes without bunching up, while also not being too short creating the highwater effect. Stylish look, though I think they could get rid of the hammer loop; personal opinion though. Excellent pants overall.

Blending Into Society

This is the second pair of Piero pant I own, had to purchase a smaller pair due to weight loss and a smaller waist. Just like the previous pair, the new Piero pant fit just fine. They are actually quite comfortable with the inner lining around the waist and with the basic construction of the leg and inseam.
A few reasons I purchased this pant over others. First, I am not a rock climber, rather I purchased these to blend into the world a bit better. I am in Law Enforcement and I am not a fan of wearing pants with numerous pockets, they just scream "cop" when wearing them. That said, I still like to carry a few additional items with me when I'm out and I like having the ability to wear a pant that moves with you. The Piero allows asymmetric movement in an out of vehicles and out in the field, which is what I need.
Great pant, ease of movement is flawless.

Perfect travel pants

I just returned from a trip to China and took these pants in black. They combined for an easy airplane ride or for an evening at a restaurant, The weather was cold so the lined pockets were a pleasant addition. I carried my phone in the leg pocket and never had a problem.

I always wear Columbia cool creak but now these are my new favs.hey fit perfect and are so comfortable. I don't even wear jeans anymore. They can pass as dressy slacks but are performance gear. Awesome!

These are the best fitting, most movement friendly pant that I've ever put on. Only issue I've had is the zipper on the right leg came separated. Not a big deal for me but just to let you know. Otherwise, the best pant that I own.

I purchased these pants twice. First in black,poor choice if you have pets, like to roll around on the floor with your kids, or, simply exist in the world. The material the pants are made of, catches, holds, and shows everything!! i looked dusty, and dirty right out the box [bag]. I returned/exchanged them for the sand color pants, and have been really pleased with them, they are great!! Problem is i wear them all the time now. I would change one thing, legs could be a little less wide...

Love the pants - stiching needs work

I love these pants. Definitely on the thicker side, so I would not wear them in very hot or humid climates, but perfect for just about everywhere else. As some others have pointed out, the pockets are a bit on the small side and I too have experienced premature wear in the stitching after only a few months of very moderate use.

Super comfortable in the waist, and the fit is great. Infact, as soon as the other colors I want are in stock, I am getting those too. I work in a snow and water specialty store, so I am moving around and kneeling a lot, and the slight stretch in the material is great. I am looking forward to climbing in these pants.

Wore the grill color of these pants for three weeks in the New Mexico backcountry last summer. I chose to wear pants to protect from the sun and the brush, and even on the days where the temperature reached triple digits these pants kept my legs comfortable. After the three weeks these pants looked as clean as the day I got them, and the material held up very well. Recently bought two more pairs in black and khaki, and the fit is just as perfect and they feel just as good even for casual wear. Great pair of pants.

Solid pant with small pockets

These are great, my only gripe is pockets - I would love to use these as my every day wear, but I can barely fit a wallet in one pocket and a chunky cell phone in the other. If those pockets would be another inch deeper, these pants would've been perfect.
Sizing is spot on for a 34 and 36 size pants. Padding in the belt area is extremely helpful, if you have a lot hanging off of your belt - it will save some of your skin.

Whether bushwhacking into the climb or on the wall these pants are the right call. Here in Sicily you quite often have to go through a lot of briar bushes and other growth that will rip your legs up. These pants are tough enough to protect you but flexible enough to make the walk in easy. Once you get on the rock face you won't have these pants holding you back. They are light and flexible and won't restrict your moves.

Great Pants

These pants are very well made and seem like they will stand up to pretty much anything thrown at them. Boot cut is great as it will allow you to put them over skis, hiking boots, and pretty much any type of shoe. The thickness on the pant allows for wear when the weather turns cold. The only negative is the pockets. I would like to see a vertical zipper pocket as opposed to the horizontal one that’s on them. It would also be nice to have Velcro on the back pockets to keep wallets in place. Otherwise, a great pant and I would recommend it to anyone. Fit is perfect.

almost perfect

So, upon purchasing my first pair of piero pants, i was so pleased, i decided to purchase another pair. The pants were perfect: they fit just right, professional, water resistant, dried quickly after hiking in the rain, stretchy enough to do lunges and climb in, many pockets allowing me to store all of my items in them - PERFECT. however, the thread along my knees has started to come undone, along the gusset crotch region of the pant. I would love these pants indefinitely if only the threading was more durable. Aside from that, the pants are amazing, and i would recommend them to any outdoor enthusiast.

Amazing Pants

I love these pants. I seriously do. The second I got them I started saving up to buy my second pair. The amazing thing is that I've worn them for everything. I wear them at work (granted, I work in the outdoors industry) and also just for casual wear and they don't look to 'outdoorsy' for those types of situations. However, once I'm out travelling these pants really really pay off. They fit perfectly, are rugged enough to take whatever I throw at them, bead water, and resist dirt to some degree.
These are truly amazing pants for an amazing price.

Great outdoor pants

Rugged, yet light. Surprisingly water repellant, and dry quickly - great for Mt Hood trails. Only been backpacking in them so far, but excited to climb in them as well.

Great pair of pants!!!

I absolutely love these pants. They fit true to size and the little extra stretch allows you to fit into all those tight spaces or head out to a buffet and not need to undo your belt. They also look great whether you wear them to work, out on a hike, or working out in the yard. I was reluctant to puchase because of the price, so I only bought one pair. I have since gone back and bought two more (in different colors).

Have worn the Piero now for a couple weeks. Purchased both 32 and 34 waists, and both fit well. The fabric is bomber strong and yet elasto stretchy!? How do they do that? Well to say the least, when I can afford another pair I will be buying more as these pants are great. Thanks MH for a great product.

My Favorite Pant

This is my favorite pant for every activity. I have three pairs and can't wait until all the colors are available in my size. The fit is perfect. I am 6'02' and 180lbs, and I wear the 32 long. I use these for work, play and everything I can think of. They look nice with a Polo or T-shirt and the stretch fit make these super comfortable.

I bought these pants for work, seeing as I needed a new pair of black pants that allow freedom of movement while working at height. Having already purchased a pair of grey Piero pants, I knew they tend to run a bit long, so I ordered the small/short. My order arrived and fit perfectly. The most comfortable, useful, hardest wearing pants.

I picked these up because of a specific comment on how these are the "Carharts of the climbing world". Absolutely... Just got off of the Petzold Direct on the Grand, car to car, and these baby's performed. Chimney's, talas, etc...these guys did great; better than expected actually. Plenty of stretch to do what's necessary, and the articulation's perfect. Not a sign of wear. I'm 6'3 185lb and the 34 Long is perfect. I even wore these to the pub after the climb they looked so good. Clean shirt of course...

skeptical at first, but a great pant

These pants fit snug at first, so I was worried about mobility (I climb in them). But the durable fabric stretches forever, so its not an issue, and I think the snug fit means the pants don't shift, they lay where they should from the start. They breath really well too, which is a big plus for pants in high energy activities. Good style for in town too.

I am living and working in West Africa so I need a rugged pair of pants that can handle the elements and still look presentable at meetings. The Piero pants does all that and asks for more...I'm 5"11 and 170 lbs, I purchased the 34 Short. Waist is perfect but found the 30 inch inseam seem to be cut a tad short. I typically wear a 30-31 inch inseam for most pants. I plan to order another pair but will ask for the regular inseam and have them hemmed. You cannot go wrong with these pants.

In the first month I've had them, I've worn these pants up Half Dome and Higher Cathedral Rock - both involving plenty of tough off-widths and chimneys that would destroy most fabric - as well as countless days of cragging on lots of abrasive rock. Still, they look like new - virtually zero signs of wear. They've become my go-to pants for climbing as they are tough, comfortable, and highly functional. They're synthetic but wear soft; they stretch but aren't baggy. They're everything I could want in a climbing pant.

I am a military member who often wears civilian clothing while deployed to various locations. I took three pairs of these pants on my most recent deployment. As far as clothing goes for pants, these were all I needed. Outstanding in hot, cold, rain, and sun. These are by far my favorite pants I have ever owned. They take a beating too. With all my gear rubbing and tugging, these pants really held up to the Mountain Hardwear expectations I had. I wish they were a little cheaper but sometimes you get what you pay for and these in my opinion are top notch. I've used them in everything I can think of from climbing to shooting at the range to hiking in Petra (Jordan). Once again, My favorite pants!!!!

These pants are insanely wonderful. The fleece waist band makes them super comfy when wearing a heavy pack or load bearing belt. The articulated knees as well as the material give you free range of motion whenever you need it. I love these and take them with me everywhere. They run a bit small IMO. I wear a 33 or 34 in nearly everything... 34s are a bit tight.

Best Outdoor Pants I've Own (or Seen)

I have had these for about two months now. Like other reviewers, I could see relying on these pants exclusively for hiking, backpacking, climbing, and anything else outdoors at temperatures below 70 degrees or so. Above that and I might be looking for something a bit lighter weight.
The fabric is the best thing about them. It is canvas-like in terms of weight and texture, but are stretchy and very abrasion resistant - the latter quality tested over the course of several scramble-filled hikes over slippery granite in Shenandoah and Acadia. Because the fabric is somewhat heavy, the pants wear like jeans or khakis, and don't stick to baselayers like lighter nylon pants do. They also clean up great - I had the lower legs of mine coated with mud from a wet hike, and after a wash and some scrubbing, they still look like new.

Tough, flexible pants

Solid pants for hiking, climbing, and active pursuits. Breathes well, tough fabric - think lighter carhartts! Pockets function well, little loose in the waist and long for the inseam, since they are only sold Short, Regular, and Long. I ordered the R first, but felt they were a bit long for hiking/climbing, as I didn't want the cuffs dragging on the ground. Ended up with the S, only pair of pants I have in that size. They are short, but no cuffs on the ground.

My favorite pair of pants

I purchased a pair of Piero pants last year in black and wore them nearly daily. They quickly became my favorite pants to wear around the house and everywhere else. Used them hiking in Bhutan on a recent trip and they still look great. Ordered a second pair this winter and when Mountain Hard Wear couldn't fill the order they gave me a discount coupon for when I did finally purchase them (which I did last month). How can you complain about that kind of service. The second pair (khaki) are just like the others and now I basically alternate. Don't think I'll ever wear jeans again. The side pocket for phone is perfect size and placement. The pants repel water and are so durable they are perfect for the outdoors. For the price, these are the pants to have.

Great Pant!

Great fit. Very comfortable. True to Size. The stretch in the fabric is great when hiking and climbing. Already my favorite pair of pants! The only thing that I think I would like more, would be if the fabric was just a bit softer. It has a slight snowpantish feel. But I can easily live with it.

These are by far the most comfortable active pant I've ever tried. I use them for everything from climbing, hiking, cross-country skiing and at the end of the day I can wear them out to dinner with the family. The stretch on them is perfect, the fit is athletic and true to size around the waist. I will def. Be getting a couple more pair once available. Good product...no...great product, good job MHW!!!
