I purchased the Eturnia Trifecta because I liked the flexibility the jacket provided. The Eturnia Trifecta consists of an outer Dry Q Hard Shell and a Grid Fleece Inner Liner. The inner fleece liner easily zips out, giving the Trifecta true 3-in-1 flexibility. The jacket has exceeded my expectations. I've worn the Grid Fleece inner liner on mild days and it is everything a zip-up fleece should be. Soft and warm, looks good too. I've worn the outer shell be itself in the rain when the temps are in the high-30's and it was truly waterproof and breathable. Warm by itself, too. The Dry Q shell is as advertised. When I put the combo together -- the fleece liner zips in easily -- it provides a very warm, layered solution which keeps me warm when the temps are in the 20's. As always the Mountain Hardwear website provides great interactive photos of the colors available.

Love the jacket, fits great and breaths well. Wore the jacket in a Oregon down poor and it beaded water like a duck and I didn't get all clammy like I have in other jackets. This is the best layered I have ever owned.

Good jacket, but...

My initial impression for this jacket was very positive. It seems to be well made, and good material. It initially felt comfortable to wear, and the liner is very warm. The pockets are perfectly placed, and very warm.

However after using the jacket for a couple of weeks I noticed the shell zips up very high (close to your chin) and seems to chafe, despite claims that it won't. I don't want to wear it fully zipped at all do to the lack of comfort. This was very disappointing considering I own a (significantly cheaper) REI rain jacket and it has extremely good chafe protection. Even my TNF softshell has a simple cover for the zipper to keep it from rubbing. Such blaring oversight is a major downfall for what would otherwise be a quality jacket.
